Brushing wet hair?

i dont understand...mayb sum1 will help...y is it bad to brush wet hair instead of combing? my hair is really thick and wavy. it gets tangled easily and i findit very hard to comb so i use a brush. any tips?

yes it is.. your hair is most fragile when it is wet so it breaks much more easily while it is wet... what I do (I also have thick curly hair) when I am in the shower and have my conditioner in my hair I run a large tooth comb through it before i rinse out the conditioner... it helps to let the comb pass through without breaking the hair as much

I think the theory behind that is using boar's hair style brushes will tear your hair up as the hair goes through the bristles when the hair is wet. if you use the kind of brush that has little plastic balls on the ends of the bristles, you should be fine.

When your hair is wet it is weaker than when it is dry. Brushing hair when it is wet can cause breakage. Brushes pull on the hair more than combs do, and thus potentially cause more breakage.

Make sure you are using a wide tooth comb. There should be a space at least and 1/8 of and inch to a 1/4 of an inch between each of the bristles. Work the comb through in sections, and make sure you start from the ends and work your way up. If you are still having problems, try using a spray or cream leave in conditoner. It will help the hair slide and the tangles will work out more easily. Also, when you towel dry, press don't rub. Rubbing the towel over your hair can cause more tangles.

The most important things are the WIDE tooth comb, and starting from the ends and working your way up. Comb out the bottom 2 or three inches of one section, and then move up another 2 or 3 inches until you get to the top.

dont worry i hav the exact same problem. brushing your hair wen its wet damages your hair. combing it doesnt. quite frankly i dont no y but ya combing it is better for you. but i mean if you blow dry your hair then theres nothing you cn do about it. but if you let it air dry then comb it. then use a straightener to straighten your hair. but to protect your hair from the heat of the blow dryer and flat iron go to sally hansen and get an ion spray that protects your hair from the heat and its anti- friz
