8 year old with looooonng hair...HELP!?

My boyfriends daughter has hair is down to the middle of her thigh. Her mom always has it braided in one long braid down her back, but if she is visiting our house for longer than 2 days, we have her shower and wash her hair. Shes okay with washing it, she just has me check to make sure she rinsed it well enough. But she does not brush it herself because she says she does not know how. She said that her mom asked if I could do it. Well, its EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to brush hair that long!! It is all one length and she has a very sensitive head. How do I handle this or go about doing this? Any suggestions are appreciated!!

toughen up buttercup...... it's only hair and yes I used to have hair that long and it did suck but try usin a spray in conditioner that should make it easier to brush. My niece has sensitive head too and her hair is long too that's what we do.....

use a detangling shampoo when you wash her hair and just go through it very gently with a comb

this might sound wierd but as a 29 year old with long curly hair i have to use a dangle spray. i buy the tesco one it is in a pink bottle and smells really nice most shops do one now. liberally spray and use a wide tooth comb and start at the bottom and work up to the roots (head) the tangles are much easier to get rid of that way. i also use a detangle shampoo which helps but have found combing through the hair with a fine tooth comb after conditioning also helps. hope this info helps. i also have to do my nieces hair in french braids for school. don't blow dry hair it will dry it out just braid it again after you have washed and combed it. braiding will help to prevent tangles. (sorry about spelling but my kitten keeps getting on the keyboard)

don't brush it. put a little pea size drop of conditioner in your hands and rub it through with your fingers. (not too much or it will look dirty when it dries). use a pick and start at the very bottom and work your way up. while picking the bottom hold it tight a few inches from where your picking. if you start up top all the tangles end up in the middle and cause one big one. starting from the bottom helps the tangles smoothly come out from the top.

The trick to combing long hair, besides using detangler when working with kids' hair, is to start at the bottom. Comb down, detangle, start a little higher, comb down, detangle, you get the idea. So you're combing two inches, then four, then six...

Be an angel and teach this kid how to comb her own hair! She's old enough to do it but maybe her mom is babying her a little bit too much - I mean, don't say that to her mom, just patiently teach the kid to comb her hair but don't preach.

after u shower or wash the little girls hair you should put loreal hair de-tangler (its for kids and it smells good)

then divide her hair into very little sections and brush each section carefully

hope this helps ^.^

Hold on to it like a ponytail and start at the bottom then work out the tangles until you get to the top.
