My 8 month old male American Bulldog has started shedding A LOT, we bathe him, brush him and feed hi

problem is he is inside 90% of the time and I have 2 children under the age of two who are constantly covered in his hair, I vaccum 24/7 is there anything I can do to help tone the shedding down a bit?

All dogs start with a puppy coat. This coat changes from a soft puppy fur to a coarse fur between 8-13 months depending on the dog. You may be experiencing a high amount of shedding for this reason. High quality food that contain Omega 3 %26amp; Omega 6 will enhance the coat and help with shedding. Stress makes a dog shed faster. Maybe just the ordinary play of young children could be a factor. I would also check with a bulldog breeder and consult with them on anything special you might not be doing. And lastly, as a groomer I advise you purchase a chamois cloth like you use on your car. Dampen it and drag it across the dog. It will pull away loose hair. Good luck, bulldogs are adorable.

Nothing you can do. However, this comes in cycles, and will most likely improve shortly. (unless there is a deeper reason for the hair loss) Problem with this type of hair is that it's really hard to clean properly.

Best of luck.

P.S. Ease up on bathing. It only makes the skin and coat worse.

You're doing all you can, brushing him daily and bathing him will remove a lot of his loose hair but not it all, you just have to wait for him to stop malting, I have two Labs and they tend to take it in turns to malt, I have lots of yellow hairs, then it swaps to chocolate hairs, it's just something you get used to.

besides the fact that dogs shed naturally, and with spring comes more shedding......

there are supplements that are suppossed to help. check with a vet first for recommendations.

I guess it's just in he breed.

If you really didn't want the shedding, though, you should have done some research on the breed BEFORE you got him.

it could be just regular shedding or if hes scratching allot it could be hes allergic to fleas and you would have to find very very good flea med for him some dogs are like that. if hes scratching continuously and is losing fur in certain spots that's probably what it is.

Unfortunately, you have a dog that sheds. If he is shedding a lot, you may be bathing too often, or he may be going through a coat change to prepare for warmer weather. But, he's gonna shed.

My American Bulldog is a big time shedder as well....nothing you can do. Why are you brushing him? He hardly has any hair at all, he doesn't need to be brushed. You'll get the same results if you just rub your hands all over his body. Just vaccuum alot like I do.
