I brush my hair when it is wet, and very recently I think (it might just be me) that my thick blonde hair is getting thinner, and breaking to create baby hairs. I've been brushing wet since I knew how to brush my hair, but I'm not sure about it. Any ideas? I'm thinking about stopping brushing altogether and using a wide-toothed comb. If I begin doing this, will my wispy baby hairs grow out and the thickness of my hair reach it's full potential again? Those little hairs that stick up are so annoying!
Does brushing your hair while wet damage it?
Look at the Web sights I have listed in the Source list for Several Answers about hair combing when Wet or dry.
Everyone Seems to have a Different Opinion about Brushing or Combing. Personally I use a Brush because it's faster. My hair Stylist tells me to use a Comb for LONG wet hair to remove the Big tangles then a brush to get all the Small tangles out. But I have since cut my hair to Shoulder Length so I just brush, and she says that's just Fine to do it Wet.
I Brush mine Wet and don't seem to have any Issues, But I also use LOTS of Conditioner in the Shower. You might want to try more Conditioner to make your hair Easier to Brush through, Or get some Spray on Tangle remover (in the adults or kids isle for hair care products.... plus the kids tangle free Smells great)
Also I use Leave in Conditioner by Redkin like once a Month and I have Redkin Shower Deep Penetrate Conditioner I use about every 2 weeks while in the Shower.
If you can't find a solution then, You also might try Brushing it Dry before the Shower and then see if that makes a big Difference for you. Experiment and see if you can Figure out why your Hair and Volume are having changes. Look at your Whole Routine for answer of why the odd change.
Are there any other Factors that have changed in you life, For Example your Diet? Are you Lacking Minerals such as Zinc, Protein, and Vitamins that will Strenghthen your HAir?

Does brushing your hair while wet damage it?
I would def switch to a wide tooth comb. The brush will break your wet hair more. Try to be gentle when you comb your hair because it breaks easier when it is wet. If you have a lot of tangles try a detangling conditioner to keep breakage to a minimum.
Does brushing your hair while wet damage it?
Use a wide-tooth comb or a plastic brush
Use good shampoo and conditioner
Get your hair trimmed regularly
Don't dry your hair too much
Drink plenty of water and have a good diet
Sometimes hair goes through periods of shedding and if not taken care of will show signs of stress.
(When I use conditioner in the shower I will brush it with a plastic brush to work in the conditioner... my hair is full and healthy)

Actually according to my corrections It is actually fine to brush your hair after you have washed it. If you wait until it dries then it will be harder to get the knots out.

You should never brush your hair when it is wet, use a comb or a pick.
Does brushing your hair while wet damage it?
Yes brushing your hair while it is wet can damage it..BUT if your like me if you wait until it is about dry (as many say is the best way) you cant get a brush through it!
So a good way to do it is apply a product to help prevent breakage (I use redken anti-snap) apply it to towel dried hair, then using a vent brush or wide toothed comb, start combing your hair at the ENDS never from the roots, work your way slower up and this will decrease greatly the breakage . Also they sell shampoo and conditioner that will help strengthen your hair. Using a detangler product helps to. Yes your hair will grow back like it was IF the reason your hair was getting thinner due to just the way you comb/brush your hair.. Another great thing to do is to take a multi vitamin every day, it worked wonders for my hair (and nails!)
